Thursday 30 October 2008 at 06:46 am If you were a gamer in the early 80's you'll remember Mule, now you can run it on a PC Atari Mule.

A couple of handy free Windows utilities - Windirstat (find out about your disk utilisation), WCD (wherever change directory) and Safarp (a fast add/remove programs tool).

Great article on the failures of the new Airport Security regulations in the US - The Thing He Carried. The easily forged boarding pass would appear to be a pretty massive flaw!

Information longevity - 'Digital dark age' may doom some data. Whats the best way to keep data safe and readable in the long term (10 years +) ? Afterall - who can still read a 5 1/4 inch disk DOS or 400kb Mac disk ? How about a 100Mb ZIP disk or 1Gb Jaz disk ? And those aren't even particular old . . .

Interesting stuff - Unix Timeline. A huge flurry of activity in the mid 80's into the 90's and now we're left with just the survivors - BSD, Linux, OS X, Solaris, AIX and HP-UX. If it loads up in as a long streaky blur just click the image to expand it to full scale.

While everyone bemoans the wasters that comprise generation x, y and z be sure to point the finger at those that put the world into its current financial and social situation - Shallowest Generation.

On a related note the UK seems to be going surveillance mad - so 'Go Banksy!'

New Header - Spring has Sprung

Saturday 11 October 2008 at 3:04 pm Spring sun falls on the deck. Time to get the shorts and sun-hat out and bask in the rays!

SYDI + More

Sunday 05 October 2008 at 5:11 pm If you need to do system documentation then this is a great tool - SYDI. Automatically generates the doco and will fit it into a template for you too. A 'how to guide' from the author is available too.

Watch your back - Streetwars. The clips are great.

One of those handy sites that make writing a little easier - Daily Writing Tips.

Looks like IBM's foray into the corporate social-intranet - Bluehouse.

Free spoof-doco - Rain of Madness. Go behind the scenes to see how Tug Speedman and co made Tropic of Thunder.
